The Love in Vain, Sweet Virginia, Midnight Rambler set was worth the price of admission. Great to see and hear Mick Taylor play slide. Jagger's intro to the film was priceless. These guys are the original rockers. Great concert film, all about the music.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Gimme Shine a Light

I attended the Beacon Theater concert the night of the filming. It was phenomenal. As musicians, The Stones are better than ever. It's chilling to hear them perform a classic you've heard a thousand times but played with a new rhthym and tempo, keeping it fresh and exciting. I will say that the seats in first two rows of the audience were removed, replaced by paid actors, good looking young kids who were instructed to stand and wave and look excited. But that's Hollywood. As a rock and roll show, the Stones just can't be beat. I saw them again at Radio City (sloppy) and the Garden that same year. The Garden is where Marty might have made his movie. Watching them interact with an audience that size reminds you how great they really are. The band displayed a certain reverence throughout the show. Their shows are long, close to 30 songs and they give it everything they've got. The film is intercut with early interview footage of the band which was hilarious. The parallels between Martin Scorsese in this film and Melvin Belli in Gimme Shelter are unmistakable. These guys are the original rockers and still, the greatest rock and roll band in the world.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
