Excellent Moivie not for Everyone

I really enjoyed this movie, there were some very funny bits, but it was much more than a comedy. It explores the essential questions of faith and human relations in a new way. For thinking and questioning individuals this film provides great entertainment and much to think about. It is not for anyone who doesn't have a sense of humour about their religious beliefs. I can see why some of the reviewers were offended by the treatment of faith in this film, but for the open-minded it's a great experience. In addtion, it shows the true brilliance of Ricky Gervais who's social commentary is always spot-on without a hint of irony or snark.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

An Amazing Film

This was one of the best movies I've seen in a very long time. Sean Penn inhabits every role he plays and Milk is probably one of his best ever. Every actor in the film did an amazing job bringing their characters to life. I was very impressed by James Franco in particular since his previous work has been mostly unremarkable.
Gus Van Sant is a genius. This film should be required viewing for anyone who is interested in the development of gay rights and civil liberties in this country.
I hope that this film will be properly recognized as the masterpiece it is.
