I really really enjoyed the movie, I had some expectations for it, and I wasn't disappointed at all. In my mind just like the first one, there's just something that's missing to make a great action movie (5 stars), except the first one is mediocre overall if not worse. This one is visually exceptionally beautiful, the creatures and the magic as well as the fights are quite stunning, and they also added quite a bit of humor in it, and I was laughing quite hard at some points. Good mix of everything for a good time. Is it the best action movie of the year, in my mind it's not. Is it worth seeing? Yes definitely. You really found the first one was simply boring and was lacking something? Give this one a second chance, I'm pretty sure you won't regret it!
Hancock is one of these movies, where you see ALL the funniest parts in the trailer, so there really was no big surprise at all during the movie. It starts reeeeaaaaally sloooooow, and remains like that until the end. The plot is just ok, and there's absolutely no punch to it... Flavorless is the word I'm looking for. It's not bad enough to give it a one star, but coming from Will Smith, Jason Bateman, and Charlize Theron (she's the only surprise, because they show her half a second in one of the trailers) I was expecting something much better. I'm a great fan of Will Smith, and this movie clearly isn't one of his bests... So my best advice is to go watch another movie, and that movie would be Wall-E if you haven't seen it!
In the beginning I wasn't too keen on seeing that movie (I've changed my view on animation movies since the terrible Happy Feet), I thought it was gonna be cute/cool looking animation characters doing kung-fu moves and that's it. Well that was it, but it was actually surprisingly better than what I expected. A nice story with a classic but nice moral, great action, and a real good laugh all the way. For kids as well as adults!
If you like Steve Carell, you certainly won't be disappointed. It's a lot of physical humor (Carell hurting himself), that people may or may not like, but I really loved it. A series of good jokes and action. Definitely an entertaining movie to see! Go for it!
That's the kind of super hero movie you'd like to see more often. Nothing to say about the story, I'm sure it's not 100% faithful to the comic book, but it's still OK. Actors are just great, I love Robert Downey Jr, and he just fits for the role he's amazing. Same goes for Gwyneth Paltrow. Just the perfect combination of everything that makes a good action movie. I would like to say best super hero movie of 2008, but I have to wait for Dark Knight before I can say that.
AAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaargh!!! It was just plain terrible, I don't know how to describe it. You just have a series of lessons on how to suicide yourself in an everyday environment, people run away and commit suicide or kill each other, and then it stops! And then it starts again somewhere else. I mean I got the message "Nature is gonna make us payback for all the damage we do", but it could have been done in a much much better way. There really wasn't much. It looks like the name Shyamalan is (unfortunately) becoming a label for bad movies...
Ok, Zohan is a concentrate of the worst over-exagerated stereotypes (jews and arabs), and it is overall ABSOLUTELY STUPID. But if you're capable of not taking things seriously, it's really quite a laugh. You can say sometimes they do too much, but overall, I did laugh a lot during the movie. For people who aren't afraid of stereotypes!
... And I've seen 36 movies that came out since January 2008... It is cute, it is funny, it sends a very clear message, and it shows you can do just a great movie without much of talking. In my opinion it's not really made for children, I would consider it definitely a movie for adults to enjoy. Let's put it that way: if you're hesitating between Wall-E and Wanted, go for Wall-E. Wanted will probably disappoint you as it did for me (and I'm quite an easy audience for movies like Wanted), so you'll be much better off paying a movie ticket for Wall-E, I swear!
I'm not gonna get too lengthy here, I was simply laughing from beginning to end. It's probably gonna be one of 2008 best comic movies, if not the best.
Nothing else to say than: a good plot, good actors... I really can't find anything bad to say about this movie, it's was simply very enjoyable , definitely something you should see!
