I've read all the books and have seen all the movies and this was by far the best movie. There are always things that would be better understood if the book had been read but this one was pretty clear. Not a feel good movie due to subject matter but an excellent job communicating the complexities of the book. Scenery was terrific, music brilliant and acting top notch. For Harry Potter fans a must-see, can't wait for part two.

Seeing this version was almost as big a thrill as when I saw it in 1965 in Tampa while in high school!! We loved singing along, the few people in the theater were very enthusiastic which made the whole experience more fun. The only downside was that our theater interrupted the extra info after film by superimposing the ad thing they show between movies so we missed all but the first three or four minutes. Still a fun evening and I'd love to see it again along with other musicals.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
