The film was slow and uninteresting. Jeff Bridges did a characature of John Wayne's Rooster Cogburn and it was pitiful. Matt Damon was flat as stale pancakes. Josh Brolin had maybe 3 lines and he and Barry Pepper were the only interesting parts and they were short. The action had no suspense, and it was just badly handled all around. Go rent the original with John Wayne, Glenn Campbell and Kim Darby. Much better use of time.
How could such a great filmmaker and star make such consistently bad decisions. It was painfully slow, uninteresting, poorly timed, and had not intrigue at all. Damon was awful. Eastwood directed like a bad director trying to copy Eastwood. I'm fascinated with the subject matter and I thought it was boring and awful and way too long. Skip it
Despite a great trailer and a lot of pr leading up to it, the script was awful, the story awful, the editing and timing, awful. Michael Douglas, Shia Le Beouf and the rest of the cast tried hard with lousy writing and a bad story. Not worth the time or the money. Real let down.
This movie was close to picture perfect for its genre. Very efficient beginning. Set up the premise quickly and easily. Action started very quickly with virtually no respite. Great chase scenes, interesting plot twists, and nice twist at the end. Ending could have been a bit better, but left room for SALT II. Angelina was in good form, although a bit skinny for the character (didn't see any buff), Liev Schreiber was very good as well. They spoke real Russian, which is better than the usual Gobbledegook they use. Unlike a lot of action films, there was no self indulgent badly dialogued drama in the middle to add to run time.
The first 10 minutes and the last hour were fun. In between it was interminable. I haven't looked at my watch so much since final exams in grad school. With all the money, the cast, the special effects and the director, you'd think they could have figured out how to pass the time setting up the story better. There is NO chemistry between Paltrow and Downey. Scarlett is great.
I don't get all the brew ha ha. This should have been spectacular and it was at best fair. Great director, great actors, great concept, and it just flopped. Started out very interesting, and ended ok. But virtually no suspense because it was SOOOOO SLOW. The script just fell flat, with a long interlude in the middle that lasted 90 minutes. Very disappointing. I looked at my watch about a dozen times. Also, the ending was totally implausible. Could have been great, but very disappointing.
This film had a lot of potential. Great leading man. Great producers, great director. But, ugh...Damon never hit his stride, the editing was awful (too slow), the direction was a snoozer. Could have been suspenseful, really funny, and gut wrenching. Instead, it was just boring. Very disappointing.
I was all set for a great, fun, thrilling film. What I got was a boring 80 minutes, with some fun and thrills for the last 18. It should have been a great thriller: it had good actors, a good producer. But the writing and directing were very disappointing. The lead up (before the action) was about 2 times too long, and because it was so slow and uninteresting, it felt like 3 times too long. The last 20 minutes were fun and had some suspense, and the plot had an interesting, although very predictable twist (you could see the twist about 30 minutes before it was revealed). I don't understand all the hype.
JJ Abrams and the writers have done a great job taking Star Trek and making it work for a whole new generation. The acting we great, great chemistry, great effects, fun, didn't take itself too seriously, yet seriously enough, didn't look at my watch at all, which is unusual these days (I did even for Terminator 4). The quotes and mimics of the original characters were both entertaining and pleasantly accurate. it was clear everyone enjoyed themselves on set. Bravo.
It's hard to take a franchise and move it forward when all the original players are gone. T4 does a competent job, not outstanding. Good effects (not excellent), OK acting (not great), good filming (not excellent), clever plot twist towards the end, but corny execution. Takes itself too seriously, and missing the Terminator humor that only arrives a little at the end. Reasonably well timed, some good suspense, lots of things blow up, and a clever plot twist. Sam Worthington does a great job, Christian Bale as usual is soooo serious and kind of stiff. Worth seeing in the theaters, and fun. As a T addict, I enjoyed it.
