Some people may be getting tired of the "comic book movie" trend, but I say as long as they continue to be as good as Iron Man and now The Hulk, keep 'em coming. The acting is great by everyone and the CGI is AMAZING. I'm very hard to please when it comes to CGI, but this movie has some of the best I've ever seen. This is pure summer movie entertainment. You owe it to yourself to relax for two hours and go see this fun and exciting flick.
I really enjoyed this movie. It's intense throughout, well acted by all involved and very well directed. There are several incredible sequences that totally floored me. Shyamalan has a weird style that some people just seem to hate. In this movie he throws in nigh-on-awkward comedy in unexpected places and uses a LOT of close-up shots. It's almost comic book style in in these parts. If you're one of those people that hasn't yet caught on that he makes stylized movies with some quirky dialog, you may be rubbed the wrong way once again. Just go into it expecting something new and interesting, and the brilliant scenes will win you over. The MPAA Rating says it has "Violent and disturbing images" and I'll tell you again, it's true. I would not suggest taking children under high school age, and I'll also say it isn't for the weak at heart. I already told my mother that she shouldn't see it. It's hard to watch in many scenes throughout so keep that in mind. The music by James Newton Howard is good here but also clearly working towards a theme. It's almost like a 50s/60s monster movie score in parts, but it's still good. However, it's not nearly as affecting as some of his earlier Shyamalan soundtracks like the Villiage or even the more recent Lady in the Water. Go see this movie expecting a unique, thrilling story and you'll be pleasantly surprised.
