Another enthralling experience with the MET HD series. The beautiful and multi-talented Elina Garanca seduced me throughout. The supporting cast is more than adequate. I have seen this opera on stage maybe 5 times. As musical and dramatic as it is, it is a difficult opera to produce. I congratulate the MET' Complaints: The start was was delayed ~45 minutes. I bought tickets to 5 of the operas in this Encore series. Only one of these was presented without a "technical" problem. These problems ranged from slight delays to prolonged delays and included lost scenes and inability to present the opera at all. It reminds me of the early days of television. I view the 2010-2011 season of HD transmissions with anticipation and trepidation.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Tonight we were spared the technical (mismanagement) disasters that plagued the first three presentations of this series; and enjoyed a great story, great sets and production, superb performers. The subtitles were brilliantly translated and there is just one beautiful melody after another. Although I have seen La Boheme at least 6 time, I was enraptured thru-out. Each Act is a gem in itself
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The Randolph Showcase Cinema was unable to present this production blaming some unknown provider. But as you can see the broadcast was enjoyed in many theaters. The production of Aida was also marked by interruptions and omission of scenes like the grand March. Even tho Romeo and Juliet went well, a restart was required. It is not possible to find an accountable person in this organization.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Despite the pieces of plotless plot (that's opera), the performers engaged us with attention holding drama. The singing by itself is enough to justify the production. The staging is is appropriate and and serves to frame the troublesome ballet. We have also encountered poor projection and sound glitches in HD theatres. Fortunately the May 19 presentation at the Randolph Showcase was was professionally managed
