This is a stupid, worthless, total waste of time & $$. This movie hardly has a plot, & what FEW laughs there were--you saw them all in the trailer, & they weren't even that great. I don't know what IDIOT thought of this useless, meaningless storyline, but save this time out of your life to go see something worthwhile, something that has a REAL story to tell. Overall, this is a BORING trash movie.
Sorry, but this movie was a big disappointment. For me, it was totally predictable, all the way thru to the end. I only recommend it to those who just enjoy watching one person after another get slashed to death. It was funny how so many people were murdered, but there was curiously so little blood: hmmmmm.....I wonder about that, but that was actually one of the best things about the movie. It really could have been better, the producers just didn't do much with it, so there's not much for me to comment on. But it does a really good job at showing just how immature teenagers really are, & how they all seem to think they're such hot stuff, all grown up & trying to act like adults--oh brother!
WARNING: THIS MOVIE CONTAINS MALE FULL FRONTAL NUDITY, for those that care. Forgetting Sarah Marshall was NOT nearly as funny as the commercial trailers lead you to believe, so I was disappointed. And don't think that just because Jonah Hill from SuperBad is in it that it's as funny as that was, because IT'S NOT. In fact, his character in this movie wasn't even necessary. I think the producers created a spot for him to lead everyone to believe that this movie would be as funny as SuperBad--deceiving. I HATED that necklace that he wore--I just wanted to rip off those big, fat beads from around his neck & send them spewing all around the room. That necklace bothered me SO MUCH. THE GOOD NEWS: In all fairness, Jason Segel as the lead character Peter the dumped one, was pretty funny, & I think he was probably the best character of the movie. Kristen Bell as Sarah Marshall played her character well also. The character of Aldous Snow bothered me IMMENSELY because he just looked scuzzy for most of the movie, like he needed a REALLY HOT BATH, a good shave, & definitely needed to get to a hair salon, to pick out all the bugs out of his yucky looking hair. Sorry guys, but dirty grunge IS NOT appealing to most decent women, so keep that in mind if you're having girl troubles. The movie lags & sags in the middle, so is over long. But the movie DOES have SOME good comedic value. I just wish there weren't so much raunch & filth in it, including so much casual s-e-x, because quite frankly, it didn't need all that to be funny.
One of the best parts of this movie are all the various animals in it & the funny things they do. I really think they are the stars of this show! This story is like watching a book come to life on the big screen. This will appeal to kids, probably up to about the 15 year olds group.
I'm giving this one 5 stars because of the outstanding special effects. All I can say is WOW, WOW, & WOW, I was REALLY impressed! Maybe the storyline/plot isn't meaty enough for some people, but it's a nice break from all the usual smut that we're served up from Hollywood, like crime, violence, s-e-x, & miscellaneous other junk. Give yourself a break today & go see this one for something visually impressive, as well as enjoyably entertaining.
Movies or TV shows about the time period of '20s, 30's, around in there don't usually interest me, HOWEVER, this movie was a definite exception. It wasn't at all boring, all performances were exceptional, especially by Frances McDormand, who is always good in whatever she does, & Amy Adams. Amy did such a terrific job playing her character as kind of a ditzy-type girl, but she was delightfully charming, & I credit her mostly to the success of the film, because you keep wondering "What's she going to come up with next??". Ciaran Hinds is SO SUPER SEXY, I'll watch ANY movie he's in just so I can LOOK at him!! I sure wish I could meet him--if only he would fall in love with me :):):) Anyway, back to the review: I was not one minute bored, right up to the end. I would DEFINITELY recommend this movie to anyone, & I DEFINITELY want to see this one again.
I'm recommending this movie & giving it 5 stars for several reasons: 1. It was funny; 2. Ellen Page & Michael Cera as Juno & her boyfriend Bleeker did an OUTSTANDING job portraying clueless, immature teenageers, not yet ready for the responsibilities of parenthood & marriage, & not even really sure of how to handle the consequences of their decision to havesex. 3. I was so happy that Juno chickened out of having an abortion & decided to put the child up for adoption to an adoptive couple who really wanted the child: GREAT TEEN MESSAGE, THE RIGHT CHOICE. 4. The performances by all of the other main characters: Juno's Mom & Dad, & the adoptive parents were all just fabulous. Juno's Dad was so funny, & Allison Janney, although her part was more of a supporting, bit part, was funny & spot-on as Juno's Mom. LOVED Jason Bateman, as I always do--he's just so sexy & cute!! There's just something kind of magically charming about this movie, so I definitely recommend!
I'm giving this one 5 stars because it's such a cute kid's movie, & the animation is so great. How can anyone not like Dr. Seuss stories?? RECOMMENDED for both kids & adults alike.
This one's a definite winner--this is one of the few movies where I really laughed sooooo hard & so much, it was downright FUNNY, FUNNY, FUNNY! Owen Wilson had his ususal worthless dialog, but so what, the movie is still great, definitely worth seeing, & I would definitely recommend it to anyone. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS ONE AGAIN, & BUY ON DVD!!
I am DEFINITELY recommending this one--Smart People is a smart movie. Dennis Quaid did an OUTSTANDING job portraying a professor--he did it so perfectly, Thomas Haden Church was his usual witty & off the wall comic self, & Ellen Page did a good job as the outcast, lonely, neglected, angry-at-her-dad daughter. The storyline keeps you interested all the way to the very end, & it was FUNNY, FUNNY, FUNNY!! I can't wait to see this one again.
