They're trying to make this franchise a Halloween tradition while making some money. We spend money watching movies anyway. If my 10 bucks go to the SAW makers every year, I'm fine with it.
Am I impressed by this one? Not really. But I don't hate it either. What made SAW 1 so good was the unexpected twist. SAW 2 was good since we didn't know if it was the last one, and therefore again impressed by the twist. After that, the twist was a given, and there were no more surprises. But after 6 years, SAW had become a tradition. If they keep making it, I'll keep watching it. There is still 1 character I care about. For now.
I'd say go see this one and then you can judge for yourself.
I came out of the theatre feeling 'well, nothing special'. Not a memorable movie, but I didn't walk out of it.
I think Travolta stood out in this one. His acting was above par. Both the lead casts are very natural at portraying the characters. There were some Travolta moments when I just thought 'OMG he is GOOD'.
The action scenes in between were OK. Nothing special. The ending was a bit flat. Almost felt like they just wanted to end the movie. Not too intelligent there.
Lots of jokes for kids and adults alike in this one. I enjoyed the movie.
Some people complain about it being a sad story, but... the sad element is integral to the plot. Without the sad part the subsequent scenes would not have made sense, or would not have been that dramatic.
Probably not a movie for kids. There's this 4 year old sitting next to me who kept moving around, as if she wasn't really interested. 8+ years old would probably get it.
I enjoyed the movie for its graphics and Cage's acting. The plane crash was quite realistic and happened at an unexpected moment in the movie. Was also happy at the ending. I think it's one of the most believable one, among all that I can imagine.
Beware of spoilers by other reviews written below. I can't belive some 'over 50 year olds' can be so insensitive to reveal partial story lines. I don't want to be offensive, but let's just say I agree with a reviewer that said some people are stoned or just plain stupid. Don't risk having your movie experienced ruined by those people.
Movies that I like: The Terminal, SAW, Flight Plan, LOTR, Matrix As you can see, I love movies with good stories, but Jumper is a big disappointment. The story is ridiculous (if there is one), the acting is terrible and the characters don't really have a purpose in the movie (I don't really care if any of the characters die). In fact I cared more about the young version of the main characters than after they grew up. The effects are OK, and there is really nothing good about this movie I can say. Even Mr Jackson can't make this movie awesome. Jumpers jump from here to there all the time but no one (except the child in the airport) seems to notice. I see that and I laugh at the stupidity of the writers. Of the few new movies that came out of Valentine's day, I picked this one to watch. But it is the worst choice.
