There were moments of brilliance but, overall, this is an epic wannabe. The story setup of how Robin became the "hood" was interesting with flashbacks of the connection to the present. The acting throughout was excellent by the two lead characters and the band of characters--great comedy. The cinematography was amazing at times. But, there were definitely moments when the editing could have been used--some slow dialogue and glaring, etc. Sitting in Cinema Suites is a bit dangerous with this movie--a few cat naps in those comfy loungers and a tummy full of food. Overall it's a good film just needing some nip and tuck.
If you are expecting the next HP movie experience to be exciting, don't waste your time. I was very disappointed after all the hype about this movie--the previews showed all the action in the entire 2 1/2 hours--the rest of the movie was drivel, as the Brits say. Half the dialogue couldn't be made out and what dialogue could be, was details to set up the next series of movies to come. I felt like I was sitting through a seminar. I actually looked at my watch several times. Whether you read the books or not, the movie needs to keep the audience engaged. They could have cut out half of it. The acting has never been that great with the HP series but they could at least keep us wanting more with action and intrigue!
Really, the movie should be called "Holes 2"--there were so many holes in the story it didn't make sense. It was disjointed and messy. Some of the effects were interesting but not enough to carry the film. Acting was horrible. I was dissappointed with Chris Evans--I think he wanted to display some serious acting but it came off apathetic--I think I snickered once, too, on one funny line thrown in.
Controversy spurs contemplation--see it for yourself and you decide. It's worth it just for the fact that people need to think about what they believe! We've become apathetic--a herd mentality society!
