Great performance by Aaron Eckhart. The camera is quite shaky for most of the film, and Eckhart gets quite a bit of screen time. He plays a battle hardened veteran who has to take orders from a younger guy, but soldier's up and does what he is told until the time to prove himself the leader. There are quite a few scenes that could have been cut out, and you will question their necessity in this very long film. A lot of the movie plays out like a real CNN news story which does a good job of drawing you in. Plenty of action, bullets, and drama in this one. Loved it. Pretty good sci-fi movie here.
This is much like "The Bourne identity" and "Taken". Pretty basic stuff here. Car chases, guns, explosions, and spy games. If you like Neeson in Taken, then I see no reason why you wouldn't like this movie. Its better than the current film competition.
This film shows the struggles of not only deaf people in general, but the life of entertaining that they have chosen. What they do is very difficult - even for people with perfect hearing, so these people actually have more hurdles than those that already exist. We forget that not all people have fully functioning senses, so people can be pretty ignorant about deaf people. Good story of perseverance.
Like most people say, this film is a lot like "Single White Female". There are recycled sabotage techniques used by the villain as seen in such films as, "Obsessed" and "The Crush". It has the feel of a cheap "made for TV" movie. It follows the same formula as the above mentioned films and doesn't add anything new. Girl meets girl, girl likes girl and wants to be best friends, 6 or 7 sabotage tactics followed by the final standoff. I sat through this so you don't have to.
A great movie with lots of great 3D action. The movie is short for a Cameron film, so it wastes no time in jumping into the action. The leader of the crew, who looks like a Lance Armstrong clone, is dead set on exploring this unknown cavern. Setbacks happen, and the crew has to try to escape to safety. I won't spoil it for you, but I will tell you I would have paid twice the price of admission for the amount of awesomeness you get in this film. It reminded me a bit of "The Poseidon Adventure". One disaster after another strikes the crew, and the acting from the relative unknowns is pretty awesome. Some scenes are pretty gristly, so I do not recommend taking anyone younger than 13/15 to see this. This is the real True Grit... The only drawback is that the plot is based on a daring adventure that only the foolish would seem to want to jump into in the first place. I found myself questioning why they were even there to begin with. Definitely see this in 3D.
Ed Harris and Colin Farrell are really great in this film. The extreme hardships that the people portrayed in this film had to endure will blow your mind. It will make you walk out of the theater feeling pretty good about living in civilization and you can eat and drink pretty much anything, anytime you want, anywhere you want to. Our lives are, and probably always will be, a cakewalk in comparison. It may be depressing to most, but I think this was a feel-good movie.
