It was an OK film. Not very funny. Martin Starr and Bill Hader were funny, but they didn't get enough screen time. It was just your basic young adult love story, run of the mill.
My problem with this movie was the amount of drinking and drug use. Marijuana and Alcohol should have gotten some screen credits due to the amount of screen time they got. To show everyone smoking weed with indifference shows kids that it isn't a big deal. It isn't a big deal, but to advertise it to such a degree is unnecessary.
I would call this movie, "Speed 3". Except you have John Cena instead of Keanu Reeves. Actually, Cena plays as if Mark Wahlburgh was the intended star. If you like suspense, like "Speed" had to offer, then you'll like this. Otherwise, it will miss your interest. The ending was a bit over the top, but it was OK.
Better than I expected. The role seems perfect for Dwayne Johnson. The kids are good, too. The girl reminds me of a young Lindsay Lohan. I hope Anna Sophia's future is brighter, though. The camera work and effects are good for Disney. Not sure why it is rated PG as it seems G would be fine. Slight violence, but nothing over the top.
Great 3-D animation? Check Grade A voice talent? Check Story? Not quite The voices and animation are reason enough to see this, but the story is horrible. You get thrown into a chaotic nonsensical plot that just spirals out of control. Still worth a view!
Voice talent steals the show:
Kiefer Sutherland = General Paul Rudd = TV guy Reese Witherspoon = Giant Woman Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute) = Evil alien Seth Rogen = Blob Will Arnett = Lizard Hugh Laurie = Cockroach (House MD) Stever Carell (The Office) = President (Sorry if I left someone out)
There is a sad message in this movie. There is also a hopeful message. You have to be receptive to both. This movie succeeded in grabbing my attention and maintained quite a high level of suspense throughout. The ending was really touching. Best movie of it's kind in a long time. I'm not sure why high profile reviewers knock it, but I guess "doom and gloom" is too much to handle for some. Good movie, go see it.
They tried to have these lead actors carry the boring script, but the actors, (I can't stand Julia Roberts), are themselves tired and can't help this movie.
Definitely skip this. I would have skipped it, too, but I've seen every other movie out at my theater. I sat through it so you don't have to. You're welcome!
I love Paul Rudd and Jason Segel. The actors seem like they are actually playing as themselves in their roles. Very enjoyable to watch. Rudd almost seems like Ben Stiller in meet the parents with all the awkward moments.
This is a pretty funny flick. Some humor is questionable for kids under 13. See this with a date, or your man-friend.
Pretty boring upfront. If you can handle that, then there's some pretty decent acting through it all. This is a mystery movie to the core and you never quite know what the heck is going on. Even the end will make you question who's side you took during the progression of the movie. Not for your average movie-goer, though, as it gets downright dull at some points, unless you can see more than meets the eye..
