This movie grabs you from the moment it begins until the last musical note of the credits. The story is a wonderful homage to the original Wrath of Khan -- an all time favorite -- that is accessible both to loyal Trekkies and fans who never saw the original. The story is well told -- the characters are full dimensional, the dialogue witty, you laugh all the way through while holding onto the seat of your pants. Oh -- and the music is tremendous! Great fun! Bravo!
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, great music
Yes, I recommend this movie.

First and foremost -- this is a children's movie that is enjoyable for the whole family. Biggest criticism -- the Wizard of Oz was so powerful because it never talked down to the audience, never tried to be cutesy or went for the cheap laughs. Today's film makers of family/children's movies need to stop going for the cutesy cheap laughs and play it straight. This story is powerful. The acting strong, the production magnificent, Let the film stand on its own. You don't have to go for the cutesy to be successful. In fact, if you get rid of the cutesy, you'd have a classic. .
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, great production, credible pre-quel
Cons at times cutesy
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Harry Potter Delivers

The final chapter of the Harry Potter films did not disappoint. I saw the film last night, and am still reliving the moments of adventure, pain, excitement and pathos. The special effects were magnificent -- the script -- right out of the book -- acting -- how can you go wrong with Maggie Smith, Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman, and Daniel Radcliffe. A MUST-SEE for Potter fans -- one drawback -- if you did not read the books, or did not see the previous film, you will be completely lost. Otherwise, the film met my expectations.
There is no story here. If you like one scene after another of shoot-em-up, then this movie is for you. But there was no character development, nothing that told you how John Dillinger came to be Dillinger, and what in Pervis' personality led him to quit the FBI and kill himself years later. And the cinematograhy was too close and in your face making it hard to figure out what was actually happening, going on. Shakey camera work was annoying. BIG disappointment.
Nobel Son is a fast-moving, fun film that manages to combine action with humor, irony, and thoughtful, well conceived and executed plot twists. Lots of fun. Only complaint -- too much up-close cinematography. Sit toward the rear of the auditorium -- otherwise some of the upclose camera work can be taxing on the eyes.
