There Will Be Blood never fails to astonish or amaze. A perfect blend of intense visuals, a hauntingly discordant score by Johnny Greenwood (guitarist for Radiohead), a deep, rich story, and superb acting, this movie is one of the best of '07 and one of the best of the century so far. There Will Be Blood is Paul Thomas Anderson's Citizen Kane, and it wouldn't be surprising to see this one take one take home the Oscar for Best Picture.
Daniel Day-Lewis gives one of the best performances of the year as Daniel Plainview, but being overlooked and sometimes put down by other critics is Paul Dano who plays the preacher, Eli. It'd be tough for any actor to stack up to the incredible acting of Day-Lewis, but I really think Paul Dano holds his own here and does a magnificent job.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
