Director Gail Hood fails to use ample cast talent

I was hopeful with the opening montage. The relationship of Victor and Logan is introduced in the credits with amazing story-telling ability. Beyond that, Jackman's direction from Hood was apparently: "Now use your claws and be ANGRY!"I admit the majority of the film entertained, but at the end of it I felt letdown. All the elements were there, yet they never come together to create a compelling film. Relationships are cliche, performances are either underwhelming or laughably over-the-top. The effects fail to impress, especially for a huge budget blockbuster expected to have innovative and striking visuals. Hood and designers were evidently too lazy, or relied too heavily on the loyalty of fans to quibble about such things as "quality."
No, I do not recommend this movie.
