Speed Racer was a very strange movie in many ways. The colors were almost a bit too much and the tone and pace of the movie was odd. There was a lot of goofy scenes of attempted humor and then there were some very serious scenes. It was better than I expected yet it was not a very good movie.
This movie was very entertaining overall but i was very disappointed towards the end. The first hour and a half- great lines, great acting, great action, classic Indiana Jones. Everything I hoped for was being fufilled and then the movie dropped off substantially for me in so many ways. The action scenes become way too far fetched for reality and the plot line really just goes south. The aliens were just a little too much for me. But all in all a good film although it could have been great. Shia LaBeouf did a good job acting and the special effects were spectacular.
The special effects were very good and it seemed like a lot of effort was put forth into this film yet it fell short for me in many ways. I figured after three years the children would mature in their acting yet I still found them to be very poor actors. The screenplay was irritating because they went from very mature action scenes to goofy little jokes for kids, that's Disney for you. After the first hour I was questioning to leave or not. This movie was "o.k.".
When I saw 40 commercials for this movie before it came out I figured they were trying to make up for the fact that it was really bad. I was absolutely right, some of the parts were so dumb I couldn't stop laughing. It would seem like this movie was written by a sixth grader.
This was an excellent made movie and I found it to be entertaining. I can see why some did not like the end, but, doesn't it seem like every real good movie has a bad ending.?,could it simply be because the rest is so good.
Although Will Ferrell just seems to do sports movie now with the same sort of character I was laughing during most of this movie. If you like blunt, straight-forward comedy this is for you.
Vantage point is centralized on a good idea but then they rewind the same scene five times causing me to get bored and everybody in the theater complain. Towards the end it gets much better because of the action. Yet, it is very unrealistic because Dennis Quaid's character could have easily died twice.
The way this movie is directed and filmed was remarkable. The underlining of a true love story set upon the crisis of a terrorizing monster makes this a must see and one of my favorite movies ever.
