My daughter and I loved this movie. At the beginning we had tears in our eyes and at the end we left with smiles on our faces. Sandra Bullock did a great job. The young son is adorable and Quinton Aaron was perfect as this shy, defeated young man. Wonderful movie and makes those of us lucky enough to never encounter the type of live that Michael Oher started with think about how fortunate we are, and maybe even how we might help others.
The opera itself was lovely. The production and performers couldn't have been better. I was very dissapointed with the PBS-fundraiser style presentation with Renee Fleming. There were far too many breaks giving the audience the tour, interviews, etc. Not at all what I expected or wanted. In addition, the theater where I viewed the movie somehow lost their video just before the 4th act, causing me to request (and receive) a refund for the performance. Although I would love to see more Met-caliber operas on screen, I would not be interested in the behind-the-scenes interviews and not-so-subtle request for donations to the charity headed by the lead tenor.
