I loved the book and liked the movie which is no where near as good as the book. My husband hated it. He felt "nothing happened". He found the entire film completely boring. I wish there was more romance in it.
The movie was not what I expected based on the trailer, it was better! There were a lot of unexpected twists and tuns , great acting and dialogue, action and even some laughs. It was smart and tense in the right places. I think we have a new action hero in Gerard Butler. Pity he didnt use his real accent though!
This was a 3 hour movie that flew by because we were so engrossed in the film. It was true to the book as much as possible in the alloted time. The special effects were amazing. I went with my 17 yr old son and we both loved it.
The film uses the romantic comedy plot and isnpredictable but if the formula works then why not use it? Gerard Butler is adorable. Maybe someday he'll even be allowed to speak with his normal Scottish burr. Katherine Heigl was funny but I felt like I was watching 27 Dresses or maybe it was Knocked up...she doesnt seem to have much range. It was funny, sweet and predictable happy ending but then that was just why we went tosee it. Not every movie needs to make you think. Some just make you leave the theatre happier than you came in. My daughter 21 has seenit twice. It is more popular with younger crowds which seems funny to me as couple is older. I'd recommend it for a girls night out but I think my husband would hate it.
