Believe the hype

James Cameron has done it again. Obviously, I heard about all the great things about Avatar and for once, they were all true. This movie MUST be seen on the big screen in all its 3D glory.
The special effects were amazing. The make believe world of Pandora was so detailed that Cameron makes you believe it was actually filmed on a distant planet.
The story does a great job of developing the characters and also making you care not only about the natives, but also the entire world of Pandora.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Just saw it....

And loved it. Classic demonic cursed horror flick. Only real horror fans can appreciate this movie. The casual movie goer will pass this off as a stupid and boring.
Love the twist at the ending. Predictable but still a great ending. A must see.

*GULP* I'm scared...

Wow. This is what fear and anxiety are all about. Let me start off by saying if you didn't like the Blair Witch Project, DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE.
This movie does a great job of creating a creepy setting and scaring you without all the gore and demonic visuals we get from other movies like Drag Me to H ell. A lot of other reviews say this movies starts of slow. Well, it doesn't. If you want to be scared, go see this movie.
Good luck walking around in the dark in your own house afterwards. Mwuahahahahah!

Not the story I remembered when I was a kid...

The wife and I took my 7 year old daughter to see this movie based on the book all three of us love. Warner Bros and Spike Jonze do an awsome job of bringing the Wild Things to life. They look almost exactly like the characters from the book. But the story that was created to turn a 10 sentence book into a movie really ended up very thin and pretty much too boring. Not to mention there is a scene in the move that just horrorfied my daughter and she had to jump into mommy's lap because she was frightened.
I would advise everyone who loves the Maurice Sendak story to watch this movie, but wait for it on Netflix.

Demons never looked so good

Ok, ok, ok. I gave it 3 stars because you seriously can't go watch this movie expecting much. What you should be expecting is hottie Megan Fox looking good while killing unsuspecting teenagers with raging hormones. The story is pretty thin but what are you realling expecting, right?
Decent gore, decent laughs, and a few edge of your seat moments. This is a B style horror movie so just sit down, eat the popcorn and enjoy what this movie offers at face value.
If you are not a horror film fan or do not like Megan Fox, just wait till its on Netflix.

Odd Humor

To be honest, I had never heard of or seen any trailers for this movie. I really didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to find this movie very entertaining.
Extract is a drama/comedy that focuses on Jason Bateman as the owner of a baking extract factory. His buddy played by Ben Affleck gives him some screwy advice and some screwy drugs that leads to a series of hilarious scenes.
Be warned though... the humor in this movie is very dry. Me and the wife were the only ones laughing in the entire theater throughout the movie.
Overall, this is a great story with some good laughs. If you are looking for slapstick or more mainstream comedy, skip this flick and save it for a Netflix night.

You got Pwned!

If my review title has you confused, you may want to skip this movie and just wait for it on Netflix. As an online gamer, I can appreciate this movie but it may fall short for the average movie goer.
Gamer takes place in the near future and is essentially a remake of the old The Running Man movie that starred Arnold Swarchzenneger. There is a ton of action and awesome special effects, but the story is pretty thin and the acting is sub-par.
If you really need an action flick fix, go see this during a matinee show so you don't have to pay full price. Otherwise, just wait for the DVD/Blue Ray.

Instant Classic

Quentin Tarantino is the Man! This movie is a must see! Everything you are looking for in a movie can be found in here: great cinematography, awesome dialog, interesting characters, action, violence, gore, comedy, suspense, etc, etc, etc. The list goes on and on.
Although a tad on the violent side, the story flows at a good pace for a 2-1/2 hour movie. Tarantino is the master at building up characters and emotionally connecting them to the audience.
This movie is well worth the cost of admission. Go out and see it today!

Great Sci-Fi Flick

I had read tons of articles that this movie was supposed to be an updated version of Alien Nation. Boy were they wrong.
This movie is very entertaining. They do a great job of introducing the aliens and the main characters at the beginning and the movie just flows nicely throughout. The special effects team did a great job on this movie. The aliens and the mothership look real, and the slums in JHB look authentic.
If you are not a big sci-fi movie fan, save this one for netflicks. Otherwise, it is worth the $10.75 at your local movie house. Enjoy!

Autobots, Roll Out!

Optimus Prime is back to defend our world against the evil decepticons. This entire movie is one crazy rollercoaster ride. With romantic and comedy themes mixed in to provide breaks from the heart pounding action sequences; this is an IMAX must see movie. Fanboys of the original cartoon/comics will be a bit dissapointed at how they treat some classic transformers in this movie, but overall, this flick is a great evening at the movies.
