This documentary was absolutely amazing! I remember the event very well and was convinced, like most New Yorkers, that the 5 teenagers were guilty. This documentary sheds light on their innocence, the criminal behavior on the part of the NYPD detectives and illustrates how we accept the news at face value when we should really look at the media with a bigger lens. I highly recommend this film - especially to all New Yorkers who were here in 1989.
Pros well paced, great story, eye-opening
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie was fast and fun! The acting was superb and the story kept you on the edge of your seat. The direction was great, even though there were a few too many long "moments". I wasn't crazy about the song choices, but it was a totally entertaining film and the cast was amazing!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Disappointing

I was shocked that this film got such good reviews from critics. It was a total cliche from beginning to end. The dialogue was stilted and the plot was thin. Aronofsky is such a visual genius, but this movie showed none of his talent. The roles were well-acted, but the characters were just too predictable and the gratuitous lesbian scenes were ridiculous. The costumes were lovely and the ballet scenes were beautifully done, but overall the movie was a huge disappointment.
The script, the cinematography, the sound and above all, the performances by an incredible cast were outstanding! "Cold Souls" was as funny as it was thought-provoking. Paul Giamatti is at his very best and I loved every minute of this fantastic film! loreleibug
