Disappointing

This is a movie about an accounting auditor and the movie is named Deception. Guess what it's about and who the bad people are? Yup, your right, very predictable with some odd meaningless twists. Far, far, too much graphic sx filler which only detracts from the film.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Too gruesome and pointless. To much filler violence. Plot doesn't make any sense. Too contrived.

Great movie. There are several issues address or hinted at within this film. One is that "Education" is vastly overrated. Here you have a bunch of highly degreed people that sit on two sides of the fence both claiming they're right ones on the same issue. For the most part, a college degree is a degree in memorization and not real objective thinking. The second point is that to really understand something you have to have an affinity with it. The Darwinians clearly have no affinity with the truth, however, "Expert" they imagine themselves to be. A third point is that dumbing down of America. For more on this google Norman Dodd and GW Griffin, Charlotte Iserbyt and GW Griffin.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Good movie. Moments of unpredictability and a few surprises. Good cast, good acting, well played. Typical boy / girl romance.

A big surprise!

Very nicely done. Great adventure with a suggestion for Egyptian History that seems more plausible than the school version. Comes together well and ends nicely. A good mix of "mysterious powers" done at a high level. Special effects are clean and believable with few hitches. Certainly a formula piece, with the guy/girl love thrown in as part of the motivator, but not belabored.
Would I buy the DVD? I'm in line now!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Ad Infinitum

Infinite flashbacks of the same event from multiple perspectives gives the movie an almost comical and certainly annoying presence. You could feel the audience dread when a new flashback was on the horizon and actually hear the audience groan at it's arrival. The flashbacks where not only unpleasant but confusing, frustrating and disorienting.
Still, the movie had some entertainment value, but, not in step with the intended action/adventure theme of the movie.
After the movie, be careful not to step on the members of the audience that have fallen asleep during the film, I almost did.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A lot of movies have serious flaws that get dumped on us poor movie goers far enough into the film that we're stuck with it. That's what happens here. The movie makes sense and plays out well until the good girl hero does the stupidest thing in the world. But if she didn't, the movie would have fallen flat or the writer would have had to think a little more.
Some nice plot twists along the way where good additions. One disturbing note. Some brief chat in the film (expect more movies to do this) seems to be an effort to condition the audience to the evils of a free and open internet. It passes quickly, but the comment is clearly irrelevant to the story and political in nature. This wouldn't be the first movie written as a vehicle serving a political end. There are several unConstitutional, violation of due process, kind of actions in the film that support the idea that this film is a mouth piece. It's rather like the "Justified" torture scene in the original Dirty Harry. Often these kinds of films have more going on that just entertainment, so in forewarned and forearmed.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Good Rambo

I still like the original best, but this is in 2nd place. Violence, blood and gore is abundant but tempered by quick shots and blurred scenes.
Rambo's attitude is the hardest part. Rambo comes off like a spoiled, selfish, brat in the middle of a life long tantrum. A kind of self pity, depressed, winer that just won't grow up. The negativity of the image doesn't do justice to the first movie. The sweetness of the character is gone. That maybe what Stallone wanted but it doesn't play well, it makes Rambo weak.
I do give Stallone an B+ for using Burma as the backdrop, where slavery and drugged slaves are a real fact of life and the countries #1 drug lord has actually gone on their national TV and openly stated that his biggest customer for 20 years is the US Government! To bad that angle wasn't pursued in the film.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Pleasantly surprised

This movie is really great. Surprisingly unpredictable, yet true to the emotions for every age represented. Never sure where it's going but you won't be confused when it takes a turn. Charisma and good solid acting are even more of a pleasant surprise. Highly recommended. If you looking for it's draw back, I would say, it's that some of the fast "hip" dialog is cute, funny and sometimes unclear. Lots of Punk references that my 26 yo daughter loved, yet didn't leave me totally in the dark. Dialog is believable and not seeming contrived. Would I buy the DVD? I'm waiting.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Book of Secrets is one of those films that probably has 15 minutes of substance surrounded by nearly 2 hours of chase screens. Still, it manages to hold it's own, entertains and in some small ways, educates.
By it's nature, a movie like this is very predictable. When they get trapped, few in the audience, worry they won't get out or won't live through it. Let's face, it, predictable as it is, most of us just don't want it to be any other way. Good family entertainment.
Would I buy the DVD? For sure!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
