If your familiar with the movie Drop Dead Gorgeous then you know the format taken by this film. A kind of fake reality show revolving around an East Indian singing contest. Not much humor, mildly entertaining.
Awful music with songs and lyrics no only incomprehensible but seemingly unrelated to the subject at hand. Oh for the days of real social protest songs. That said, the movie was well attended which is the most important thing. So the format of varied artists trying to boost their careers interlaced with comments, video and factoids about the slave trade seems to work, just don't expect too much.
With somewhere between 500,000 NS 1,000,000 people going missing each year in the US alone and those are only the ones with no known traceable reason, this problem is much larger than what is referenced here. Global pedophilia, however, is fairly well covered. A much more serious documentary is needed.
An important set of subjects around the privatization of water as a growing business opportunity. How good and clean will you city water ever be to drink when business wants to charge you for that and sell you bottled drinking water on top of it? And what's worse? The bottled water has 0 standards. The film also provides good insight in the world bank and their leverage against countries against the interests of their citizens. Well worth seeing.
Bill's quick and gentle retorts make for a fun and entertaining look at the ridiculous nature of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Of course, he neglects to confront his own faith which is the ridiculous nature of philosophy and modern controlled science most notably evolution doctrine. But that aside, he make as decent effort at showing how ridiculous these particular human superstitions are.
The best western since Open Range. The characters are well done, the relationships are intelligent and real, the story is a good, basic western. Some confusion surrounding the key female role and what she was really up to. That distracts from the western half of the movie, but other than that its good solid entertainment.
Nicholas Cage plays the part of a dark, cold blooded assassin better than I expected. Slowly, he starts to find what is missing from his life, compassion. But his fate won't have it working out that way. The ending is the lowest point in the movie, making no sense and deviating the film into a convenient and politically correct ending.
Hmmm... It was fascinating to see young people with materially little still holding attitudes of selfishness and insincerity. This movie links you to real life individuals and situations revolving around a river cruise ship. What's missing is historic footage that would have better conveyed the before and after changes to the river. All in all, it's well done.
This is one of the true genuine events of modern time. The desire of one man to achieve his goal dissolving all barriers all resistance. Supported by home movies taken at the time, this movie is a great portrait of the human spirit and the power of an individuals dreams.
The film plays well, almost like a mystery and dwells on the individuals who conspired to make it happen and the the toll it had on their lives.
