I went into this movie naive. I didn't realize it was written by the golden turkey master shamalama dingdong. Had I known I probably would have avoided it. The shock was what a good and "nice" movie it is if you ignore the perpetual violence. Good gymnastics throughout the film.
I would not recommend you see the "3D" version in theaters if they change you more. This movie is not really a 3D movie it has 3D scenes mixed in that are of nominal value. I saw the 2d and 3d versions and the 2D is just as good.
They should have stopped at one. No meaningful story. Why are they making beefcake wolf man into a fabricated star I have no idea. Zero -99 charisma. No star appeal just looks like he's connected some how.
Sorry, this movie is just so formula. Load bangs on cue to fake excitement. Very predictable, very ordinary. Good special effects. The weakling hero character is just off target. The hero is weak for no reason then powerful. Very contrived film.
This movie is just not at all funny. Really low class trash attempts at humor. Pointless, egotistical, degraded. I stayed for about half of the movie just to give it a fair rating. It's unbelievable how bad it is. A complete wast of time. You have to ask yourself who are the people that would praise such a piece of trash. Who would see that such crap is placed in theaters and in front of us to begin with. There are no redeeming qualities to this movie. Avoiding it saves you time, money and moral decay.
I was shocked by just how awful this movie was. No plot, no purpose, extremely violent and intended to be cute and cleaver! Avoid this movie. Hollywood is seriously deranged to put a film like this is theaters as entertainment. The worst movie I've seen in years. I went to see the movie because Forest Whitaker was in it. Love the guy, not any more, now I have to question more carefully any film he's in. Truly disappointing!
Not sure where this movie is coming from... Lots of motion filler. Lead character is not strong or really purposeful. Matt seems to be as confused and unfocused as the rest. Good for what it is, but what is it? This is one of those movies made to make some money without really having any real story line. Somehow, one of the many bad guys become the goal of the movie?
I sat there watching the volumes of dark, violent, depraved and trauma being dished up by Disney and I couldn't help but think how diametrically opposite a Disney flick tends to be from say a movie like Avatar. Disney movies, reflect Disney nature and Disney character and they seem to always struggle to try and appear "Good".
I found the movie to be less than desirable, even hideous. Yes, there is "Entertainment" but I would say at a price too high.
A similar movie out now, "The Road" is much, much better. The Book of Eli is the Mad Max / John Carpenter type of film. Cold, boring, mean spirited and it doesn't play that well. The Road is far more gripping and humanistic yet The Book of Eli hits the big theaters, why?
Some would say this is the near future for all of us. Circumstances in the world make this movie seem almost like a course in raw survival. The film is very understated which is very appropriate. Much better than a John Carpenter approach. A good selection of characters and room to disagree with the choices taken. Looks like good sequel potential.
Haven't seen many movies with a lot of this kind of animation, but I found the movie to be excellent. It is way, way, way above average in basic humanistic concepts. Honestly, I sat there thinking to myself, this movie must has extraterrestrial contribution. I can't imagine people on earth being about to do this.
Now, that said, it's only flaw that it is basic Hollywood good guy / bad guy drama. The script could have aimed even higher.
