We took our family and extended family members to see this movie on Christmas Eve. Everyone (20 people from ages 9-70) enjoyed it and thought National Treasure was a great adventure. I liked traveling to France and London and parts of America to solve the mystery. I felt everything fell into place too easily and would like to have seen the main characters struggle a little more to receive answers to puzzles.
Maybe I expected too much, but I was disappointed in this movie. The acting was great -- and the story was touching, but there were times when the language and lack of clothing were uncomfortable for me, since I brought a friend and my teenage girls to see the movie. Gerard Butler, for being a dead guy, sure had a lot of screen time, which was fine -- he made me fall in love with him. I didn't particularly like the character Hilary played -- she didn't appreciate what she had when she had it. Bring tissues. You'll laugh and cry and cry at this show. I would recommend this movie to a mature adult but not for teenagers or children.
I was pleasantly surprised with this movie. It was delightful and held interest for all members of my family. We still repeat some of the lines from the show and get a good laugh. We need more family movies like this one.
I LOVED "AUGUST RUSH"! The story was very touching, and the music was incredibly beautiful and moving. "August Rush" was an experience, not just a movie -- it makes you want to listen and be aware of the music all around us. I plan to buy the DVD as soon as it comes out. I saw this movie twice, since I had to share it with friends and family.
