Hands down the most fun I've had at a movie in years. Much of the audience was actually standing up and dancing towards the end, and the majority of those who weren't were clapping along enthusiastically. Disregard the reviewers intent on over-critiiqueing individual performances, they are missing the entire point. The message and indulgence of this joyous production is to let go, have fun, and maybe come to the realization that most of us are far too rigid in this brief journey we're on. The charismatic cast is so obviously having a blast, it is utterly infectious and irresistible. And Meryl Streep proves, yet again, that there is apparently no role she can't completely nail. Let yourself get swept away for a couple of hours, and realize it's also a fun-filled spoof of traditional musical theatre. It's a vacation-- enjoy!
