I am shocked at the very positive reviews here. I guess studio marketing is on the move.
This is a good movie only if you're 12 and have never seen all of the other movies it rips off.
Call it ET the Raging Monster From Jurrasic Park in a World Of The Worlds.
The first half of the film is a standard coming of age flick complete with a dead mother and a cute blonde girl who is obviously five years older than the other actors.
Then the movie goes from one ripped of action set piece to another. The fake movie at the end is more interesting.
This could have been a good movie. Heavy handed, filled with preachy religious references and a truly annoying turn by Paula Patton make parts of the film unwatchable. The film is disjointed and meanders all over the place with not discernible direction and Loretta Devine, looking sweating and disheveled shrieks and yells her way through every scene. I know a lot of African Americans will support this film because they are sick of Tyler Perry and the other cross-dressing disasters out there. But this movie is not good just because Perry is worse.
A waste of tie and money only the wonderful Hayden Panettiere delivers a performance worth mentioning. Courtney Cox looks tired and old and her husband (Arquette) makes you wonder what took her so long to dump him. Neve Campbell still looks great but still can't act.
The movies tries to be clever but fails at every turn and the ending is so stupid you'll wonder why this is not listed as a comedy.
As close to Pixar as anyone has ever gotten, Rio does everything right. Funny, musical and sweet as tropical fruit, the animated feature entertains from first frame to last.
Even a noticeably chunky Vin Diesel couldn't ruin this terrific fast-paced action show. The Rock is great as a relentless FBI tracker from the Tommy Lee Jones school of dedication. The supporting cast is great (and funny) and former co-star Tyrese Gibson slips into his role with the grace of a real star. Somebody get this man a movie, please.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Liam Neeson is the best action star in the movies!
This was an even better plotted movie that "Taken" and although it had faults, none can be attributed to the start Liam Neeson who is as usual steady, sympathetic and kickass.
The supporting cast is supers especially January Jones who is icy cool and dangerous and the ultimate femme fatale. And the icing on the cake is Frank Langella who just keep adding to his legendary list of great supporting characters.
it will remind some of another movie abut lost memory but this one keeps you guessing right until the end.
This movie makes you love it from the very first frame. It sucks you in and persuades to believe that the word we say are the most important things in the world.
This little film could sweep the Oscars. Lets hope it does.
