This could have been a great movie if only they had lightened up a little. Two good actors keep you in it but the film lapses into morbid contemplations of sex, aging and love. Steve Carell tried to play it straight is quite boring. Streep andJones are great and have moments of wonder but the second act buries them under its weight.
After number two Nolan had Great Expectations to close out the franchise. He failed but not miserable. His ambitions were larger than the story and Bale's always feeble rendition of the Dark Knight. Add a sexy but empty Catwoman and you've got an okay three hours in the dark.
Renner makes it look easy as he dons the suit of world Most Wanted Man. A stellar cast lead by Ed Norton keeps the suspense going while they tie up loose ends from the old series. A little chemistry is nice but the action never stops. And the most suspenseful scene in the movie is two men eating dinner. Well done!
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, renner
I like many fans of the original was skeptical about this remake. But unlike most others, I have read the Phillip K. Dick story it is based on. In this regard this film is more true to the theme of the story than the first Recall Movie.
Colin Farrell is not Arnold but that's a good thing because this Recall is deeper and more relevant to our current time. The first rate supporting cast is lead by Kate Beckinsdale in a performance that puts her in contention as one of the greatest screen action villains ever.
Also I have not seen such a full realized futuristic cityscape since Blade Runner. This fil with all of our new tech outshines Blade Runner in its realism inventiveness and style.
Critics have been hars in their reviews but I urge anyone reading this to give the film a try. Don;t live in the past. This future kicks ass.
Pros well paced, great actors, special effects, kate in tightie whities.
It is with a sad heart that I must report the death of the mighty Pixar. It first showed signs of illness with "Cars," a movie with big head and a small heart and then it faltered with Cars 2 a fruitless undertaking that seemed like someone giving their beloved idiot son a job at NASA.
SPOILER ALERT!!!!! STOP
And now we have "Brave" a film whose hero and villain are the same person. A movie that wants you to watch a woman get beaten like Tina Turner just because she's been turned into a bear. A film that sees a girl poison her mother because she is a brat and then "bond" with her after she's betrayed the most sacred of trusts.
Steve Jobs is gone and now the iPhone is a piece of crap.
The Pixar we knew is gone.
Rest In Peace.
Cons bad acting, slow, bad story, unlikeable lead, dumbass ending
I feel like I was in the rock for ages! It I had not sat through the entire movie waiting for something to happen, I would have asked for my money back. It was a trite love story, with a little humor, and b-side rock music.
Pros tom cruise
Cons bad acting, slow, mediocre music, catherine zeta
I could not recommend this film more. Ridley Scott has lifted himself above even the great James Cameron in his visual stylings and mythology.
The opening sequence is so dazzling that people actually gasped. After the film, I was left with lingering questions but they are the kind that make you feel smarter for just knowing to ask them.
Can't wait to own this movie!
Pros well paced, great story, great actors, rapace is hot~
A bunch of good-looking kids go somewhere they shouldn't fueled by youth and American arrogance. One by one they die while spewing out how they love and want to screw each other before they die. All the while the camera shakes. and moment of silence explode into loud scary moments.
