What a great movie. I expected something simplistic with caricatures rather than characters, and trite humor rather than depth, based on the reviews. But it was not only funny, significant, enlightening and satisfying, it was an important portrait of a critical period in US history. If it wasn't for Minnie's "big nasty," it would be a great film to show in every high school in the country. Hey, even with that they should see it. Surely, they've heard far worse.
Entertaining and exciting, mainly due to the excellent performances of Downey and Law, and the beautiful cinematic recreation of Victorian London. Sets, cinematography and costumes were great. Somewhat formulaic, but some fun twists getting to the end. Quite a bit of gratuitous violence.
