In all fairness, I liked LWW as a book better than PC as a book -- so the fact that I liked LWW as a movie better than PC would follow. Amazing visuals in this film -- and the CGI is awesome! I love how stories that were written decades ago still can make a bit of political commentary on today's world. Two favorite characters: Peter Dinklage as Trumpkin and Eddie Izzard as Reepicheep There's a dramatic lull about 2/3 of the way through the film. I wonder what Andrew Adamson had in mind with that? If you're going to see the film for the epic battle scenes, you won't be disappointed.
It was also cinematically "retro-redefining." (I made up that last word.)
Here's a little more:
I was transported back to my kindergarten-aged self as I watched and was thoroughly engaged by this film. I think the anime-inspired storytelling was spot on. The visuals were kind of like a turbocharged Dr. Suess world. The drama wasn't completely unlike an after school special. Christina Ricci looks the most anime of any character in this film. Are her eyes digitally enhanced? These Wachowski brothers have extraordinary imagination and talent. I don't think this film needs a sequel, but I'd love to see more of this kind of cinematic storytelling.
This is a great movie - but here are a few more thoughts: Robert Downey Jr. is one of Hollywood's greatest actors. His life struggles make his portrayal of Tony Stark even more believable That said -- this is still a comic book movie -- and totally and unbelievable But still - an unbelievable movie can still make a powerful political statement Now I'm rambling in bullet points! There are lots of bullets in this movie. There is some great acting in this movie from Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard and Jeff Bridges. Did you catch Stan Lee's cameo? Hilarious! John Favreau directed this film to perfection I don't have anything negative to say about this film -- it's all good There will be many sequels . . .
I think you have to be 6 or 7 to like this movie. It was pretty bad otherwise. However, I do a little more to say about this movie: Abigail Breslin wasn't near as good as I think she can be as an actor. I hope she does more good movies soon. I did laugh at the gassy sea lion. I didn't really believe Jodie Foster in this role. Gerard Butler was great! Could the CGI have been any worse? Maybe, but I don't think so.
If I wanted to take little kids to a movie they'd like and that I could sit through -- I might go to this one. I might not, either.
