Daniel Craig gets really ugly in this film. It's an out of control Bond who still has 007's charm. Bond villains and scenarios seem to change with the times pretty well. Sometimes they mix like oil and water. Slight spoiler: After you breathe out - right after the film's opening sequence - don't relax. This film was a little difficult to follow, but it was still entirely satisfying to watch
I felt real anger, sadness, joy and hope as I experienced a glimpse of the senior year at Warsaw Community High School. Some have accused director Nanette Burnstein of scripting this documentary. Whether she did or not, I found the subjects of the documentary believable and authentic. The film focused on the stereotypical students, and we got to see what felt like real flaws and unrehearsed joy. A favorite member of the cast? Hannah -- absolutely. Stay during the credits to find out what's going on now -- it really makes for a satisfying end to the film I have a feeling this film will be shown in high schools for ages to come.
This film had a lot of fun with itself and gave us several obvious homage moments to the Indiana Jones movies. I don't think there were any "WOW" performances by the actors, but I particularly liked Maria Bello stepping effortlessly into the role of Evelyn O'Connell The special effects were pretty good -- not great, but pretty good. I wasn't sure I wanted to see this film -- but after seeing it, I'd love to see a 4th installment! Overall -- great fun and a really good film.
I love that the A+ list of actors in this film interact with each other so well. There's no show-stealing despite several magnificent performances. That said -- I was blown away by Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker. Amazing. I think that for several years to come, folks will see movies and say things like, "Well, it's no Dark Knight, but it's pretty good anyway." I left the theatre knowing I had just seen a well crafted masterpiece - and I still want more. Delicious, creepy, enjoyable and haunting -- I highly recommend The Dark Knight.
There were so many laughs it's hard to single any out, but I remember three that really did make me laugh out loud -- Here are the one word descriptions: movie stars airsick nuclear Every time I see Alan Arkin I think of The In-Laws. He's great in this film too. Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway must make more movies together. I think I have to watch the direct to DVD spinoff and I'm looking forward to more Max
I fully expect this movie to be on every kid's "must see" list for several years to come So it's not academy award material -- this movie kept me interested from start to finish Josh Hutcherson is officially "that kid who is in all the movies." I didn't see the 2D version -- but I highly recommend the 3D version if you have the opportunity. Next time I'm at a Disney park I want to ride the (not yet created, but sure to be) roller coaster that's will be based on one of the scenes in this film.
I finally got around to seeing Pixar’s newest summer blockbuster. Here’s my short review:
Moviemaking art returns – an entertaining film that’s got heart, soul, and a message that’s good for everyone.
Here's a little more:
So little dialogue – I started thinking about the 1972 film, Solyaris. (I guess I could have thought of 2001, too -- but the Russian film came to mind first) Not so subtle messages about caring for the environmental, eating a healthy diet and getting proper exercise. Is Fred Willard the only live-action actor to appear in a Pixar film? I had no idea how many parents and small children go to see a kids movie on a Saturday morning – the theatre was packed! The cartoon short at the beginning ranks right up there with Geri’s game. I like the continuing story as told during the credits.
I like this departure in storytelling from Pixar – but I’m also ready for another 'bugtoynemoish' film!
Great action and acting -- I love it when that combination arrives on screen. There are a couple of 'laugh out loud' (intentional) moments in this film. (hungry? excited?) At first I thought Liv Tyler's role was disappointing. Have patience while viewing . . . I don't think I can decide whether I like this one or Iron Man better -- they're both great! Watch for the cameos: Bill Bixby, Stan Lee, Lou Ferrigno, Robert Downey Jr.
You don't have to stay until the end of the credits -- There's nothing extra at the end.
Sunday matinees of family-friendly movies are really noisy. Jack Black's lines made me laugh out loud on several occasions. "Believe in yourself and follow your dreams" -- a great message to share with anyone. Favorite line: (by Seth Rogan as Mantis) "I wish my mouth was bigger!" I wonder what really happens with the Wu Shi finger hold when Po finishes off Tia Lung with his pinky . . . Early box office results suggest that there'll be a Kung Fu Panda II -- but I'm not holding my breath.
This film has plenty to laugh at and plenty to be nostalgic about the first three Indy movies, but it was sure missing the storyline that made the other ones great. This played a lot like a b-movie imitation of an Indiana Jones film. The action in this movie is worth the price of the ticket. Favorite moment -- when we got to see a bit of the insides of a long-lost crate in a warehouse.
We went to the midnight show, and I'm pretty sure my spouse and I were the oldest people in the theatre.
