Writing. . . directing . . . acting . . . special effects . . . I'm gonna have to say awful in all areas. I don't know how afar along the other Sid and Marty Krofft film projects are, but wherever they are -- producers: Get Scot Armstrong to go over your script and fix it! I'm guessing someone like him could have saved this stinker. It you're paying attention at all during this flick, see if you notice the homage to Raiders of the Lost Ark. Yes -- that was Leonard Nimoy as the Zarn. (Zarned if I know why he thought this movie was a good idea.) Spoiler alert. It's a Sleestak egg.
I can't think of anything positive to say. I think Universal Pictures owes me a refund.
Expect some laugh out loud moments as well as some moments that will have you holding back tears. The 3D effects don't make this film, but they do make it better Favorite line: (word) "Squirrel!" Adults will likely notice visual or story references to The Lost World and perhaps The Island of Lost Souls. You're gonna love the 'epic battle scene' It made me think a little of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Another excellent film from Pixar. I'm looking forward to Toy Story 3 next year!
The formula for this one is essentially the same, but the additional characters and locations add to the adventure. Yes. (the) Jonas Brothers are the cherubs. Did I notice an intentional plug for the upcoming Three Stooges film? Favorite character (by far!) Hank Azaria as Kahmurah (He was the voice of Abe and the Thinker as well?) Loved seeing Darth Vader -- apparently James Earl Jones was too expensive, tho.
A very satisfying film-- though I'd love to see another sequel!
The film never drags, but it doesn't really find its way until after the first hour. Enjoy the action sequences during the first hour -- pay closer attention later. I counted at least 5 obvious references to the other Terminator films. How many can you find? Is this a Terminator future reboot? Yes -- but not nearly as good as the Star Trek reboot. Standout performance from Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright. Her role is small and silent, but I expect to see more of Jadagrace in the coming years. There's been a setup for a sequel, but I'm not sure this franchise has more left in it.
I don't think that there is anything anti-God or ant- church or anti-Catholic in this film. There are also no real standout performances. I did, however, enjoy seeing Steve Kehala as a CNN reporter, TV actor Gino Conforti as Cardinal Pugini and Elya Baskin as Cardinal Petrov. If you have to use the restroom, wait until about 25 minutes have elapsed. You should have about 10 minutes of lull time before anything important happens. In it’s bit of heavy handedness, this film brings us a couple of excellent points for discussion. Science and religion are not mutually exclusive. Religion is imperfect because people are imperfect. I’m sure Mr. Brown’s soon-to-be-released novel will be made into the third Langdon film.
Every time this film made a reference to the series or other Trek films, the audience applauded. The film and the audience were totally in sync with each other. The special effects didn't feel at all like special effects. Time issues? Of course -- and I enjoyed every moment! I loved every character, but I do have favorites - Simon Pegg as Scotty, Karl Urban as McCoy and Zachary Quinto as Spock. (His first utterance of "Live long and prosper" brought a whole new depth to the phrase.) Pay attention for cameos (or is it just small roles?) for Winona Ryder and Jennifer Morrison
There will be more of this continuing mission . . .
It's possible I was just tired -- but this film just couldn't hold my attention. I really kept wanting things to move forward more quickly -- and until the end, they didn't. On the other hand, the 3D effects and the whole look of this picture are marvelous. And several of the characters are really worth watching -- My favorites: Seth Rogen as B.O.B. Hugh Laurie as Dr. Cockroach Ph.D. Kiefer Sutherland as General W.R. Monger and Stephen Colbert as the President
I think the young ones really liked it -- but I'm not sure why.
Paul Rudd and Jason Segel have great onscreen chemistry All of the characters in this movie are likeable in some way Did I say the movie was crude? It's very crude. I laughed out loud more during this movie than any in recent memory RUSH? In a movie! Awesome!
All this-- and Lou Ferrigno, too! I think I may have to see it again.
Each of the characters in this film seemed real -- no acting or scene stealing. I wanted to get to know each of them equally. Do I need to mention the seamless special effects? I just did. As love stories go, this is one of the best. I kept thinking of how this film and the upcoming "The Time Traveler's Wife" will be compared to each other. Predictable in some ways by design -- This film is also unpredictable. Be sure to watch all the way through!
Quite simply - a film with lots of laughs. I'd love to see this one again and again.
Here's a little more Adam Sandler does what he does best here -- deliver laughs and lots of them Story? Oh yeah -- there is a story and it is sweet. But the laughs steal the show The presentation scene (near the end) had me laughing out loud -- almost uncontrollably. Did I mention this is a funny movie? Family friendly? Absolutely! I expect to see newcomers Laura Ann Kesling and Jonathan Morgan Heit in many more films. Other favorites? Keri Russell as Jill and Guy Pearce as Kendall
No, it's not Oscar material -- but another great film from Adam Sandler!
