'The Dark Knight' will undoubtedly be the summer blockbuster to beat but no film could ever live up to the marketing blitzkrieg generated before Christian Bale's second outing as the Cape Crusader. Moreover, many of the reviews presented before opening day painted 'The Dark Knight' as a deeply psychological thriller similar to films like 'Seven' and 'The Usual Suspects.' I humbly disagree. 'The Dark Knight' has more in common with 'Wanted' than 'The Silence of the Lambs.' Perhaps if we had spent more time with Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime. Sadly, we all know that we will never get another moment with Heath Ledger’s psychotic other side on the silver screen.
Hellboy and the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense returns in a visual feast that occasionally forgets that they're supposed to be working. Sadly, the majority of the most amazing effects don't have the impact you'd expect on the big screen because you've already seen all of them on the small screen in the commercials.
