If you're like me and were excited to see Vin Diesel back on the screen for another action packed film, you've probably already seen this movie and were disappointed.
The action is there, great action - but the plot and storyline were awful - even for an action movie. This movie could have been so much better - if they didn't constantly jump forward in the timeline to the point your were confused as to the extent of the relationships between the characters... what happens?! You never find out. Perhaps the writer/director left it that open intentionally, hoping that the public would be foaming at the mouth to find out what happens - but considering there were 4 people in the theater with me - I don't think it's going to happen.
I was really excited about this movie after seeing the previews. The trailers made it look much more exciting than it was. Even though it was animated, I didn't expect the movie to be geared towards children, boy was I wrong!
The characters are, for the lack of a better expression, dumbed-down and are nearly void of respectable jedi behavior. Skywalker, being called Sky-Guy? R2-D2, called R2ie? Come on people.
If you have kids that are fans of the series, they will probably enjoy this saturday morning version of the clone wars.
If you like Ben Stiller's brand of comedy, a couple good jokes, but he relies on beating down those jokes until they aren't funny anymore, you'll like the movie. I might have preferred if Stiller wasn't the star in the movie... someone else could have done it, probably even better. The other actors were good... Downey was great, as usual.
Overall, the movie was fine - but I just wish that Stiller would work more into the film than the few that are referenced over and over.
I must admit, I didn't think I would've liked the first movie, and I did. I really liked it. The sequel, I really thought I'd like it nd it fell a little short for me. It felt like they were pushing too many storylines into the film.
Just as in the first, the characters followed similiar archs of growth, each growing up a little (or a lot) more.
The gang all returned, even though America has a hit with Ugly Betty and Blake is the IT girl right now. They all did a decent job in the film.
All in all, it wasn't as fun as the first movie, but I'm guessing the books followed the same path in the characters' growth. I would say it is a must'see for fans of the books and the first movie!
I was actually suprised that all of the laughs that were in the movie, weren't ruined by the preview. There are so many movies that showcase all of the film's biggest laughs in the trailer... this wasn't the case.
The storyline could have been better, but the acting was decent for the main players. If you're looking for a serious, deep, thought provoking movie, look elsewhere. Pineapple Express is a good summer comedy!
but I couldn't. This movie is something that fans of the series have been foaming at the mouth for... only to find a long version of a so-so episode. The first movie was epic compared to this effort. The x-files shock and excitement was lacking in this movie. The continuation of the Mulder and Scully storyline is something worthy for fans of the show to see, but it could easily wait for the DVD.
I really hated not liking this movie - especially after reading that a potential third installment depends on the success of this film... if my opinion of the film (and the fact that Dark Knight is most likely reign supreme at the box office) is any trend, it doesn't look good for a third X-Files film.
I saw this movie over the weekend and thought it was fun and admirably sung by it's players! The dancing in the film isn't exactly broadway quality, but for someone who wasn't looking for, the dancing doesn't take away from the film.
Amanda Seyfried was very good, especially with having to go head to head with the acting heavyweights in the film.
One thing, I'd like to point out to people who tend to arrive late to a movie - DON'T. You'll be completely lost and you wouldn't be able to catch up if you miss the beginning.
I know that some people are talking more about Heath Ledger's Joker than they are the whole Batman movie in general.
They should be - Ledger is just fantastic as the joker. Seriously steals the show.
I was going to definitely see the movie this weekend, but ended catching one of the midnight showings of this summer blockbuster. I couldn't believe that all of the shows were sold out! Good thing I bought my tickets on movietickets.com (enter shameless plug here).
The movie is good, maybe running a little long, especially at 3am.... but overall, it's a summer blockbuster that can't be missed. The acting was superb on all counts and the storyline was very good for an 'action sequel' if you want to call it that.
Ledger and Downey Jr and up there together with my summer's acting picks!
For fans of the comic books, this is a must! Although, I must admit, I was expecting a little more in the storyline department with this movie. The acting was decent - Ron Perlman is the MAN! The costumes and special effects were AWESOME. Luke Goss is fantastic as the villian, I hope this opens the door for more work (preferably as a leading man ;-))...
This movie is another example of how great Doug Jones is as the man behind the freaky costumes (i.e. Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, Silver Surfer). Great presence.
If your looking for a entertaining movie and don't really care about some continuity and storyline issues, don't miss this!
This movie had some pretty big shoes to fill - no, not to overpower and out-box-office Bana's Hulk (not that it's a huge task), but to follow-up one of the best Marvel movies to date, IronMan. Not only does Downey's IronMan make a cameo, but it's pretty sad when the audience is not sure which they are happier to see, Iron Man's cameo or the credits.
Maybe that was a little harsh. The movie was entertaining but lacking as far a storyline, character chemistry and overall WOW factor.
I think it was fun - but, just can't compare with Iron Man.
