I went to see this Glee concert movie as I could not get to go in real life. the music was great but I could have done without the real life stuff - it was really boring and unnecessary. It really detracted from the 'concert' I went to see. I would not have gone if I knew about this in advance and on those grounds would not recommend it at all. I am sure there was more music that could have been put in - or even cast stories about being on the road.
This review is coming from an adult who found the movie a bit boring. don't get me wrong it had some funny bits in and my 10 year old really liked it. Half way through my 7 year old asked me for his DS because he was bored. However he was still able to tell me all the bits he thought were funny after that. Not as good as I expected and did not hold this adult's attention as much as other family movies have.
This was a really good movie as it is. If you have just read the book you may be disappointed as it does not follow it completely. Even though I read it 3 years ago I vaguely rememebred the plot and it was fairly close. However 2 things disappointed me. The movie was directed by the same person who directed teh 1st 2 Harry Potter Movies and as they were very close to the book I expected this to be too. Secondly, the bit Iwas looking forward to the most was the Gateway arch scene which was replaced with another scenario. However, apart from that the movie was really enjoyable
This movie kept my son and I on the edge of our seats the whole way through. I missed a couple of lines trying to explain the initial plot to him and never really worked out why he (Cage) did what he did to clear his family name. I agree with another reviewer that answers to clues came far too easily but it did not take away from the awesome movie. I'd go back again to see it (this might clarify the unclarified).
