I was not all that up on Harry Potter and did not read all the books or, except for the first two, see the movies prior to this one. That was not a problem. I feel that I can go back and get caught up on the previous movies. It does help if a friend can give you a short summary of what has happened up to this point.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
