The premise, though barely plausible seems improbable and the final salvation seems unlikely. That said, it's a typical disaster movie filled with amazing special effects and an over-abundance of hairs-breadth escapes - after two hours I was pretty numb to it. The romantic subplots were barely noticeable though the characters were believable. In all, even with my senior discount it wasn't worth the price of admission.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
