I also had not read the book before seeing the movie but now I might go pick up a copy. The movie held my attention throughout the entire film. Superb cast and well executed.
I took my 12 year old daughter to see this movie wondering if I was making the right decision since it was rated PG-13. It did spend a considerable amount of time on pressure that HS students deal with about becoming "active". Over all it was ok but probably would not recommend it for the younger kids who just love Zac Efron from HS Musical.
Make no mistake, this is not an Oscar caliber film, but it is quite entertaining. I took my 11 year old daughter and her friend to see it and they loved it. The only problem is the entire story is weak and has been done several times in other movies. A bit on the predictable side, but all and all it's ok.
Great movie, action packed, never a dull moment. Went with 9 people ages 7 to 75 and everyone agreed that this was a great movie. Grandma said it was very intense, but she was glad it wasn't as dark on the screen as previous Batman movies.
Don't listen to movie critics and GO see this film

We enjoyed this action packed movie with an exciting unexpected twist. We ran into several friends at the theater and they all thought the movie was great. You won't be disappointed. If bringing children under 13, be prepared for some foul language.
I took 15 girls ages 9, 10 and 11 (what else is there to do when SOCCER gets cancelled)to this movie and they all enjoyed it. It was exciting and funny. They loved the all of Nim's pets. It wasn't the best movie ever but we didn't leave disappointed either.
