It was so slow it was painful. I usually like to see long scenes and dialogue but way too much time went by without advancing the plot. Not recommended
I think the teen crowd might like this more. It's fairly formula in that it's a teen love story and a young girl who is trying to find herself. But, lightweight that it is, it's still enjoyable to watch and a lot of the comedy is funny. A little bit of drivel is entertaining and the movie entertains. Heck, Drew is a great gal and it's a good first effort.
Granted that some of the scenes were unrealistic but this film is a drama for the screen. Very well done and gripping and I didn't think it was as rah rah as others thought. I thought it was much less about the U.S. than a character study on these guys in this special unit and what they were getting or not getting off on about living this part of their lives in a surreal atmosphere in Iraq. The theme that "War is a Drug" tells the whole story to me and I thought this was a very well done, well acted film. One of the best films this year.
Incredibly boring. Nothing is happening here. When you are supposed to care about the love relationship, it's like these two people hardly know each other much less are greatly in love. This movie is a waste of time. I hate to say this because there are some great actors involved and I'm a big fan of Michael Mann. This just misses on every level.
This is a very good film. Entertaining and deep. Visual effects are breathtaking and some great performances. Excellent story that really opens up the comic book genre to a new level. Highly recommended
This is really a great film. A small, personal film with great character study and a very poignant story. The actors hit it right on the head. Well directed and surely written. Well worth seeing and shouldn't be missed. A real Sleeper early in the year.
This film shouldn't have been made. It's a story that has been told many times. The whole thing was very predictable and the action scenes were shot so you couldn't really see what was going on. Basically all the people in the film were borderline idiots and no one really cares. What a waste of money!
I have to say that this film left me at the theatre feeling like I hadn't seen a movie. It's very one sided in it's approach to the the theme and if you have ever had any experience of being on your own and on the road, it leaves you with none of the vitality and excitement that that brings. It's all very fear based and a bummer. Whatever but I think it justifies that 300K price tag that it came with. Not recommended.
Go see this film. Some of the scenes in this film equal the best scenes ever in film history. The subtle nuances in sound, lighting and absolutely in the acting in the film really raise this film head and shoulders above all the other films that I have see this year. I've seen all of them to this date. Great film and, on a side note, if you have ever gone to Catholic School in the 50's or 60's they pretty much got it right. Although I have to say, there were definitely not any nice nuns where I came from. Meryl is fantastic as is Hoffman! Idon't do five stars, but I give it in this case. Great Film!
