Spectacular--Unlike some of the other critics on here, I thoroughly enjoyed the aerial camera shots of this opera. The chorus and individual performances were top notch--could not have been better. The two female leads--Liu and the Empress had exceptional voices. What an incredible experience to have seen this opera on the big screen. Almost as wonderful as being at the Met in person!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The opera was absolutely beautiful with a stellar cast and great chemistry between artists. It was unfortunate that there were problems with the audio feed during the production. The Century City 15 theater also needs to be more attentive to intermission(house lights etc.) and audio problems when they occur. I have attended this theater twice for opera and it seems like no one is paying attention to the technical issues at all once the movie begins.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Excellent interviews by Renee Fleming during the intermission and it was fascinating to see the installation and dismantling process of the set and all of the backstage processes! This is a real intimate look at the tremendous amount of work behind the scenes. The actual production was spectacular and the most touching moment (which we would never have seen otherwise) was at the end of the opera just prior to the curtain call. It was amazing to see how emotional these singers had become(one even reduced to tears) just prior to curtain call. I absolutely love these productions! Bravo!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
