I was waiting for the Met to bring back this opera/production. I was at the Met on Saturday to see this broadcast live. The music was beautiful. I love the 3rd act love duet. The production was beautiful. It did not look or feel like it was over 30 yrs old. I do have 2 criticisms: One; I felt sometimes the Met orchestra was too loud and overpowered the singers. And two; I also felt that Marcello Giordano's singing sounded strained. I did not hear or feel very much emotion from him. He looked and sounded stiff. Eva-Marie Westbroek..Robert Brubaker and Mark Delavan were better. If you want to see and hear this opera the way it should be sung and acted; buy and watch the Met's DVD of this production starring Renata Scotto and Placidio Domingo.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I really enjoyed this production. This was another great cast from the Met. Marcelo Alvarez is just great! Beautiful voice. Sondra Radvanovsky is THE Verdi Soprano. Stephanie Blythe just gets better every time I see/hear her. Dimitri Hvorostovsky and Kathleen Kim were perfect in their roles. I usually prefer a more traditional setting for the opera, but I enjoyed this one. Bravo David Alden! Fabio Luisi and the Met Orchestra were their usual..Magnificent! Do not miss this HD Broadcast...

This production will be a tough one to top for the forseeable future. Anna Netrebko, Matthew Polenzani and Mariusz Kwiecien are incredible singers and actors. They have a great chemistry together. Remember their Don Pasquale? Ambrogio Maestri was incredible as Doctor Dulcamara. I have never seen or heard of him before. He had a great voice and his acting/gestures made the doctor come to life. The sets and costumes were great. Bartlett Sher direction was incredible. As always the Met Orchestra shows why it is the NUMBER ONE OPERA ORCHESTRA IN THE WORLD! Catch the Wednesday November 7 HD Encore Broadcast. BRAVO METROPOLITAN OPERA!

I totally enjoyed "Wagner's Dream". I had seen all of the Met's HD Wagner broadcasts, this season and last. It was great to see the processes that went into creating and producing this new Ring cycle. Anyone who is thinking about seeing the HD Ring encores, should have seen this movie. It was very informative and gave a short summary of the Ring's story/plot. I am looking forward to the encores.
