It was everything a good movie should be...exciting, funny, emotionally engaging and action. Just the right combination of these makes a great movie. This was a great movie.
I love John Travolta as an actor, as well as, Rhys. Together I just did not connect with them as partners. My impression could be attributed to Rhys role in the Tudor series and unconciously I have character-type him in drama roles. That perception obviously affected my full enjoyment of the movie. I loved the action, over the top Travolta, and the twists and turns leading to the full realization of the story plot. See it for yourself.
As expected, there was lots of laugh. Madea did not disappoint. The diverging stories within Madea goes to Jail gave me the impression that they could have been two independent movies. At one point the focus remained on the prostitute/Asst DA storyline so long that I forgot the movie was about Madea going to jail. Tyler Perry's talent continues to shine in all that he touches. I can't wait to see what Madea will do next. After hearing Madea's rap sheet, I would like to see a flashback of Madea back in the day when she was building up her rap sheet.
