I don't know why the critics panned this movie, I found it exciting, entertaining, really enjoyed the special effects. The plot was exceptional, even though the outcome was not a surprise, the ending was very cool. If your looking for a sleeper of a movie, this is a can't miss loads of entertainment flick. Not only that, even after the movie, it makes you think? Maybe?
I was really wanting to like this movie, but it just dragged on and on, had few funny scenes or lines. I don't really expect much of a plot in movies like this, but this was the lamest one I have seen in a while. Don't waste the money. I thought this might be sleeper, but really just dissapoints.
I gotta say, I really like Ed Harris, always have. I waited for his directorial debut, and came away very dissapointed. The movie just seemed to drag on and on. It just kinda sat there, no surprises, no great shoot-em- up scenes, nothing. I guess I wasn't by myself, half the audience left halfway thru it. Ren'ee Zellweger looked out of place and was very boring, especially for a character being portrayed as a nympho. For someone who also wrote the screenplay, Harris's storytelling as a director seemed to miss the mark. Why weren't we told more about the Harris character, and his sidekick Viggo Mortensen, and how they became a team, why they were privateering police in the old west. It just didn't click, and I wanted to like it.
