This was a great movie, however, many of the more interesting elements in the book were left out of the movie.

Move Over Adam West ...

Do not want to overstate this, but The Dark Knight is better than the original Batman movie starring Adam West and Ceasar Romero (who, much like Heath Ledger, wore a mustache underneath the Joker makeup).
Yes, I recommend this movie.
