i was on the edge of my seat for every second of this movie. The costumes, the lighting, the involved story, the great acting, the special effects, the editing, the music, all of it, this movie just simply spectacular.
Unfortunately for most of the movie i was cringing it was so cheezy. Some special effects were good, the last scene was awful. The characters were portrayed with qualities that made me not care how they fared.
Overall, i enjoyed the version with Arnold much better.
Still, Jason Momoa is easy on the eyes, and lovely to watch.
The movie didn't follow the book exactly, yet it captures most of the important parts. i question why at this point the movie was so short? Why not include more details, like why Harry needed his Dad, Mom, Sirius, and Remus's assistance to cross the field to meet Voldemort? Why not have Harry repair his original wand? That aside, i loved every minute of this film. It is visually enchanting, great effects, lighting, costumes. The movies deliver great acting, wonderful performances . Helen Carter as Hermoine is brilliant. Ralph Fiennes did a great job, having a believable villain always makes a film better. i will see it in the theater again before i buy the DVD.
i liked Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern in his looks, i just thought he needed more ego - like Ben Browder as John Crichton or Nathan Fillion as Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds - the actors gave those characters this ego edge that i don't get from Ryan. It takes a long time to establish the storyline of this movie, and mostly the movie is a set up for the next villian but still, i liked it visually, i liked the characters, i liked the story.
i thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It was great entertainment, great action, i was given character development plus how the characters became acquainted with each other and how their powers evolved. The main plot of this movie evolves around Xavier and Magneto plus subplots of Sebastian Shaw, Mystique, Beast and a couple others. Great humor and wit through out too.
Loved the authentic, realistic costuming, the historical accuracy of the sets and armor. Things didn't just look pretty, they looked like i would expect if they had been used in real life. i enjoyed the Master/slave relationship portrayed, the switching and the realization of full potential as "buddies" in the slave becoming a free man. i loved the story, the actions that proved honor and integrity.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 is very well done, given that i have actually read all the books. You can't put every detail into a movie and what they choose to include flows well, makes sense and keeps what you need to know from the book in the movie screen play. i'm really happy they divided this book into two parts so that a better telling of the book could be translated to film. This installment of the Harry Potter saga is so much better than the last two films in keeping true to the book.
The movie is well acted, the lighting, editing, effects are excellent. i enjoyed how they created a truly grim feel for the whole movie because when i was reading the book, that i how it was, i felt anxious anxiety turning those pages, it was bleak times, Harry desperately not knowing what to do. i'll be attending again, buying the dvd and looking forward to Part II.
The action scenes were amazing. Great plot twists. i was never sure who was in what camp until the end. Fantastic editing.
i folded and unfolded and refolded my ticket stub until it was completely limp at the end of the movie while i watched, not wanted to miss anything.
The heroine's loyalties? Let's see, not sure if "they" killed her parents when it was time but very sure "they" killed her husband. A woman whom lived a life thinking she would be alone, and then there is a man who comes for her when she is sure she will be forgotten. Mmmm, i've seen girlfriends sell everything they own and move long distances to be with guys they have decided are *IT* at the drop of a hat. I'm okay with the logic that she wants revenge for them taking her husband.
i just don't care her outfits were magically matched. That happens for all operatives in action movies. Bravo to the wardrobe person.
i do wish AJ would work out more and actually *have* the muscles she needs to do the stuff she is supposed to be doing.
i saw the movie in 3D with my boyfriend and we both enjoyed it. Good characters, terrific story, great visuals - i liked how the dragons had different personalities and looked very different, and a very happy ending included - go team! It is a fun movie with good humor for all ages.
See it in 3-D or rent it. The visuals and effects are great.
Mia Wasikowska was absolutely terrific in the title role.Helena Bonham Carter was wonderful as the Red Queen. Anne Hathaway was expectantly cool and regal. Johnny Depp was fascinating as the Mad Hatter.
The message of the movie - we determine our destinies by the choices we make and we each have the strength and wisdom to make our own decisions that are best for us, is a great theme to twist a story around.
The 3D glasses fit over my glasses, no worries there.
