Despite the fact that it definitely wasn't a complicated plot and borrowed a lot of plot vehicles from movies that have come before, it was truly a good movie in and of itself; i was expecting good special effects, but I wasn't expecting likable characters and an enthralling alternate universe. The last movies that made it this much fun to be engrossed in an alternate universe were the original three star wars movies. I think the thing that amazed me the most was that the world and the characters were so engrossing I didn't realize it was almost 3 hours long!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
