Mann, This Film Had Potential

My most anticipated Summer film lets me down. I expected a good gangster flick, but what I got was a remake of Heat set in the 1930's Chicago. Just like Heat, both leads perform the best they can based on the writing & directing. Just like Heat, the stars only have one scene together. And, just like Heat there is a great shoot out. I though this would be a great movie for the big screen, but the Chicago settings just didn't look that grand. A caveat to the review, my wife really enjoyed the love story with Johnny and Billie. On a scale of $10, I would give it $6. For home watching, I won't be buying the blu-ray, but will watch it again on HBO.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
