My husband and I went to see this not really knowing what to expect. We saw Mo'nique on The Ellen Show and really liked her personallity and how she presented herself to the audience. We knew it had to do with her life as a teenager in the 60's but didn't realize the full scope until we sat down to watch. It saddens me to have to listen to all the heavy language but I understand that it was a movie. She put up a lot of physical abuse and mental abuse, and to be the woman she became is amazing. I highly recommend this to everyone.
Clint Eastwood portrayed his character perfectly. He reminded me of my father. The prejudice and anger inside of Walter was something that many men felt not only after the Korean War but in many of our wars. The injustice of gangs getting away with bullying, beating, raping, killing is still going on today. This was not only a Drama but was also a comedy in many ways. Guaranteed you will laugh and shed some tears in the movie.
Though the movie is somewhat slow (you would miss the story if it weren't) the story is about selflessness, compassion, and life. It is a tearjerker for men and women.
The movie was good from the very beginning. Jason Statham is very good as the Transporter and just might make a good 007 if the time ever presents itself. Some of the driving tricks are nail biting. Not much conversation but all action. If you want action this is the movie for you.
My husband and I were very delighted to see the movie so well done. Ed Harris did an excellent job not only producing and directing but the acting was great. He chose a versitle group of actors that can play anything. I did not recognize Renee Zwellweger for the longest time and had to have my husband tell me who she was. Viggo, Jeremy and Timothy never cease to amaze us with their skills.
My husband and I took our grandchildren ages 5 and 9 to see this on Saturday June 28 and I don't remember them sitting as quietly through other movies as they did this time. They were so wrapped up in the movie they even forgot they had popcorn in their laps to munch on!!!! My husband also enjoyed the movie. Wall-e reminded me of a smaller version of the character in short circuit. I highly recommend this movie to everyon, young or old.
