Best perception movie since the Matix

I had my doubts about Inception before seeing it. I'd heard mixed comments about it from my friends and co-workers, so I went into the film with a bit of skepticism. However, even with a pessimistic mood on the movie I was blown away!
The concept was executed very well! The idea of people living in a cage of their own design has been around for ages, but this new angle really drove the idea home for a mass audience.
Pros:
Brilliantly thought out concept, good acting, amazing special effects, lots of twists and changes, beautiful cinematography, and a much needed (semi-)original idea. Some of the special effects were so good that I was even scratching my head wondering "how'd they do that?"
The ending was perfect if you were able to follow everything that was going on throughout the film and truly understood the movie.
Cons:
Drug on in parts: many of the key elements of the film could have been explained in half the time taken.
I figured out the ending of the movie about 1/3rd of the way into the film, so some might consider the overall story a bit predictable. However, there are several twists throughout the story that keep the movie interesting even if you know what's going to happen in the end.
Easy to get lost in the story: there are a lot of details that could be overlooked by grabbing for another piece of popcorn that could cause you to be completely lost through the rest of the story, truly a movie in which you can't blink.
The ending was awful if you couldn't grasp the concept or missed something throughout the story. Again, very easy to get completely thrown off track and be lost in the story.
Bottom line: A+ movie if you pay attention to every detail. You'll know if you really understood the movie by your reaction to the ending: if you got it, you'll think the ending is brilliant and perfect; if you didn't get it, you'll think the ending was awful and a simple fade to black.
It's the first time I've been able to spot people in the theater who got it, and those who didn't. There was a clear-cut 50/50 of wow's and ughs.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
