Well done acting and superb special effects and camerawok. Peter Jackson doesn't dissapoint. As good as the 3 LOTR movies and eagerly awaiting part 2.
I was somewhat dissappointed that the entire story didn't make it into the movie, but at 2:46 for the first 1/3 of the book or so I can see why.
I was pleasantly suprised by the "Real3D feature on the Marcus Ultrascreen here. I cannot see 3D in reallife and do not have "stereo vision" - one eye or the other only - so the concern was that the old "red/blue" glasses effect would make the movie unwatchable for me. Not the case. While I didn't see any 3D items the movie itself was beautifully shot and enjoyable to watch.
