First I have to say I'm a die hard Jeffrey Dean Morgan fan so his role in the movie is what I loved. But he deserves better than this, and so does Kyra. Jeffrey and Kyra do their best but they can't elevate the movie above an average story telling level. If you were living this story, you'd be terrified for your child, but watching it in a movie theater, I was not the least bit nervous, let alone scared. My 13 year old granddaughter was with me, and not scared. Some people think it's scary but I assume they also got nervous during Hercules or Xena, another Raimi/Tapert collaboration. The movie never gets to a terrifying climax. The final scene is shot in a physical therapy room with blindingly bright lights. This should have been a dark scene, perhaps with the lights going out and the red glow of generators lighting it. Kyra's boyfriend is completely unnecessary and I don't see why his part was even written, let alone left in the movie. The kids are great...good acting. Look forward to seeing them in the future. I recommend the movie because the story is suppose to be true, and if you love Jeffrey, you'll be happy to see it. Just don't go expecting to be scared. It's not likely. No blood or gore, no swearing...not scary enough to me for even the PG 13.
